How to Make Slime

I am glad that my daughter is curious about science, nature and essentially how to make things – odd things.

Her latest quest is to figure out how to make slime. In fact, she asked me to go on my computer and look it up. About.com had a video complete with the ingredients and steps needed to make an opaque or translucent concoction.

Isn’t this one of the cutest pumpkin crafts you have ever seen!

The rotund family caught my eye as soon as I saw it on the magazine stand in the grocery aisle.

Before I knew they were called the Pumpkin family, I thought they were were Snowman Pumpkins. Regardless, we will be making them at our Fall Pajama Party this year!

Moose and Zee No-Sew Snuggle Pillow

My daughter and I had a wonderful time making the Nick Jr. Moose and Zee No-sew Snuggle Pillow craft. She saw a commercial for how to make it on TV and we decided to give it a try.

Since I don’t have a printer, I had to draw the characters by hand instead of using the templates provided on the Nick Jr. Site. But they still turned out great and look just like the characters on TV.

She’s been sleeping with them ever since we made them. I wonder how long that will last? Probably just until we make another craft next week!

Whenever my daughter plays with Moon Sand, PlayDoh, or something similar, I put a vinyl table covering on the floor – you know the kind that you would normally use for a kid’s birthday party. I set the Moon Sand on the covering then inform my daughter that this is her special play area for working with sand.

When she is finished, we shake what’s on the vinyl back into the Moon Sand containers. The tricky part is the fact that she’s usually playing with more than one color. However, for the amount of time that it keeps her hands busy and her eyes away from the television, I do believe it is worth it.
