It seems like a pretty good deal. He’s been able to get books at a really low price and they come within a couple of days after ordering them.

Chegg’s story begins with “We were students so we know textbooks cost too much and students don’t have money to waste.”

Sounds like they know what they are up to…

“To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I’ve ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

When in doubt, just take the next small step.

Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

Pay off your credit cards every month.

You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

It’s OK to let your children see you cry.

Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.

Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.

Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.

It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

Over prepare, then go with the flow.

Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

The most important sex organ is the brain.

No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

Frame every so-called disaster with these words ‘In five years, will this matter?’

Always choose life.

Forgive everyone everything.

What other people think of you is none of your business.

Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

Believe in miracles.

God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.

Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.

Your children get only one childhood.

All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

The best is yet to come…

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

Yield.

Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.”

Its estimated 93% won’t forward this. If you are one of the 7% who will, forward this with the title ’7%’. I’m in the 7%. Friends are the family that we choose.

I am almost finished setting my goals for the year. There maybe 1 or 2 more that come to mind in the next few days. One of my main goals is to do something fun with my daughter each weekend. Whether it is a craft, a kid-friendly recipe, visiting an attraction (using an entertainment book coupon of course) or trying a new restaurant, I want to expose her to new and different things besides the typical trip to the playground. Although that’s always a lot of fun as well and it’s FREE!

I found one of Marcus’ insights to be particularly eye opening… just because you are good at something doesn’t mean that it’s a strength. Essentially, this is how Marcus Buckingham defines strengths and weaknesses.

A strength is something that completes you. A weakness is something that depletes you.

You can take the workshop that Marcus Buckingham offers for free via Oprah’s website. For your convenience a quick summary of the Marcus Buckingham workshop materials are also listed below:

Red Cards – You’ll use the red cards to write down all of the items you loathed a task or felt weak (drained or bored) during the course of a week.

Weakness Statement – In Session 7, you’ll create a weakness statement for each of the things you wrote down on the red cards.

Strong Week Plan – In Session 8, you’ll create a plan with key outcomes, activities needed to meet those outcomes and strategies to leverage your strengths and minimize your weaknesses for a strong week.

The 7 Baby Steps are listed below.

Pay Off All Debt with the Debt Snowball

3 To 6 Months Expenses in Savings

Invest 15% of Income into Roth IRAs and Pre-Tax Retirement Plans

College Funding

Dave explains the details of each baby step in his book, The Total Money Makeover and if you would like more in-depth study, you can sign up to attend Financial Peace University (FPU). There you will learn more about budgeting and household finances via a video series of powerful lessons taught by Dave! After the video, attendees usually participate in a facilitated group discussion.

I attended FPU at my church and was so inspired that I purchased the videos so I could view them at home and share the message with my family and friends. It seriously changed the way I look at debt and household finances.

Now, not only am I motivated to get out of debt, I am just as fired up to share this powerful information with others! Check out this printable version of Dave Ramsey’s 7 Baby Steps. Make several copies and pass on the knowledge with someone else today!
