Is it an Ice Cream Scoop or Ice Cream Scooper?

Ice Cream ScoopWhat’s the thing called that you use to scoop ice cream? Is it called an ice cream scoop or an ice cream scooper?

Isn’t the person scooping the ice cream the scooper?

Either way, I’ve found many uses for the ice cream scoop…..er.

My favorite use… scooping cupcake batter into paper baking cups to make the perfect sized cupcakes. You wouldn’t believe the joy I experience when my cupcakes turn out perfect with no wasted batter sticking to the rim of the muffin tins.

I also like to use the ice cream scoop when making cookies. It’s great when you want to make medium to large cookies using refrigerated dough.

I prefer an ice cream scoop with a trigger handle like the Oxo Good Grips Trigger Ice Cream Scoop if using it to scoop cupcake batter or cookie dough. I think pretty much any scooper will do if you are using it for its intended purpose – to scoop ice cream.
